[edit] Info

Elizabeth Arden already uses Jaguar Freights TMS solution for their domestic trucking business, but their supply chain management users would like a tool to evaluate the efficiency of their domestic supply chain, by comparing their costs vs time based upon various components within. Currently, the previous weekly load statistics are being pulled from the TMS by the EA domestic operations team, who are sending the same to EA, which they use to keep track of their current weekly cost per lb, per carrier, per lane. As these spreadsheets are cumbersome, this article provides possible & typical use cases, on how this feature will be used and is directly related to TMS_based_Arden_Cost_per_pound_KPI_(solution).

[edit] Business story

Each week on Tuesday, middle management user Henry of Elizabeth Arden checks to find what last weeks over all cost per lb was for their supply chain. Henry is responsible to record and report on this information for their entire supply chain to his immediate boss Brian, whose the VP of Supply Chain Management for the entire North East.

Henry finds last weeks overall cost per lb is $ 0.03, which is down $ .02 from last weeks statistics, as happy as he might be in his findings, he will need to investigate further to find how or why their cost per lb was reduced. He now starts with looking at the carriers cost per lb results and selects one carrier at a time to download each of the results into an excel.

After all results are on hand, he now would like to compare the costs according to carrier.
